About Tech Awareness Association

We teach people in Worcester County how to fix their devices, reduce e-waste, and understand the technology they use every day.

Through hands-on workshops, senior tech support, and electronics collection, we make technology more accessible, repairable, and sustainable for everyone in our community.

Our Vision

We want to create a community where people have the skills and confidence to repair their own devices instead of throwing them away. Technology shouldn't be a mystery or something you replace the moment it breaks, it should be something anyone can understand, fix, and keep using for years.

What We Believe In

Five core principles that guide everything we do

Learning by Doing

The best way to understand technology is to take it apart and put it back together. We teach through hands-on experience, not lectures.

Fighting E-Waste

Electronic waste is destroying our environment. We're committed to keeping devices out of landfills by teaching repair skills and running responsible recycling programs.

Helping Our Community

Everyone deserves access to technology and the knowledge to use it. We focus on helping seniors, families, and anyone who needs tech support.

Student-Led Change

Young people can make a real impact. We're proof that high school students can run meaningful community programs that actually help people.

Working Together

We partner with the library, senior centers, and local organizations because we can do more together than alone.

What We Do

From workshops to community events, we're making an impact

Library Workshops

Monthly sessions at Shrewsbury Public Library where people learn actual repair skills. Participants work on donated phones and laptops, learning how to replace batteries, fix screens, and troubleshoot common problems using professional repair guides. We also host 'tear-down' sessions where people safely take apart devices to see how they work.

E-Waste Drive

Annual collection of old electronics from across Shrewsbury. This keeps harmful materials out of landfills and gives us devices to learn on. We bring in speakers to talk about the environmental impact of e-waste. Electronics we collect get used for teaching, sent to certified recyclers, or sold to raise money for environmental organizations.

Community Repair Events

Events where people bring their broken devices and we help them fix it together. It's not just us doing the repair—we teach them how to do it themselves. We also visit Southgate Senior Center regularly to help with tech issues and provide patient support for people who didn't grow up with smartphones.

Other Cool Stuff

Repair escape rooms where teams compete to fix device components and solve tech problems for prizes. We also use 3D printers with recycled filament to make phone cases and accessories, teaching sustainable manufacturing and design.

Why This Matters

Every phone in a landfill releases toxic chemicals.

Every senior who can't use their smartphone loses connection to family.

Every person who throws away a repairable laptop wastes money and materials.

We're teaching people to fix things, understand technology, and take care of the environment—all at the same time. That's how we're making Shrewsbury better, one repair at a time.
